I haven't had any difficulties yet, at least with those who've been here for some time. We're all newcomers to them and I'm more than happy to indulge their curiosity and they return the enthusiasm in kind when I show interest. Now, if you want me to show off?
[ He feels that nudge and after a few moments he returns it in kind — lighter, but still curious. Roche's head tilts with it, and he props his chin up on the back of his hand with his elbow on the table. ]
You only need to ask. I don't mind parading around like a show chocobo for the right person and I doubt you'd tell me to do something absurd.
[ Or potentially humiliating, but it's not as if Roche has any shame. Or, well, not a lot of it. ]
Most people here have been great, honestly. [ Barring...that one creep her first night, but she'd maybe brought that on herself with the virgin auction and trying to protect Cloud. And it hard turned out alright. ] That's a nice way to look at it, actually.
[ Her smile is again a shade warmer, her eyes lingering longer on his face. It has nice angles, and his hair is beautiful. She's never really considered people clearly older than her before, but...given this place, and how nice he is, she certainly wouldn't mind. It might be fun, too, to learn from someone who is sweet.
She doesn't notice these thoughts aren't particularly typical for her, especially with someone so new. It just feels nice to spend time with someone, and to not be so freaked out by this. She even grins when he bumps her leg back, her heart fluttering lightly at the attention.
His suggestion gets a raise of her eyebrows, and a laugh that is more shy than incredulous. ]
I've never done anything like that. [ Maybe that's not entirely true. She had taken a little advantage of guys clamoring for her attention to help pick up deliveries or get her good deals on things. But this was...more than that. ] It sounds like it could be fun though. [ She's absolutely six shades of red has to dip her head to hide behind her cocoa. ]
You'll never know unless you try. I used to push my luck with Public Security long before I enlisted just for the adrenaline rush it'd give me when they inevitably started trying to chase me down to arrest me, but it was fun when they were willing to play along with a bored teenager looking to cause problems. They probably saw it was better to entertain me themselves than risk me finding a different source of it.
[ Not that it ever stopped Roche from doing it anyway, but still. Too bad that rebellious streak only got worse with age and it's unfortunate that basic training was unable to beat it out of him. If anything it only made it worse once they unleashed him on all the fancy toys Shinra had to offer. ]
The worst that can happen is I can say no, so by all means — ask away. I'd imagine it'd be a different sort of rush in bossing a SOLDIER around anyway, right? You never know when you'll get the chance to do it again.
[ She grins, shaking her head. They weren't cut from the same cloth, not at all, but maybe that was why she found him charming. ]
You know, you're right, and there's so much I haven't tried. One way to find out, I guess. If I was going to boss a SOLDIER around and show him off, since he does have beautiful hair and great taste and I suspect a really great ass, where would we go? Errands, one of the parties, a nice date?
[ What she's really asking is what would make it fun for him, because she thinks she's going to be just as thrilled and embarrassed regardless. ]
[ Really, he's willing to go along for whatever ride at this point in the day. The engine nestled within his heart sits idle with a pleasant rumble rather than a deafening roar, and for once he's not all that keen on shifting it into a higher gear. It won't last, he knows it, but that doesn't mean he can't enjoy an easy, steady pace while it's there. ]
Though I will warn you ahead of time, I'm not the most... obedient little... What's the name people call us sometimes? Stamp? Like our "mascot"?
[ She blushes, but it's not embarrassment. It's something...warmer? Happier? It reminds her of when she was a kid, and an adult would invite her to do something she had never done before.
And then she laughs. ] Yeah, Stamp. Marlene -- the little girl who lived sort of with me, anyway, she loves Stamp.
[ It wasn't like Tifa was used to people listening well all the time anyway, and she kind of admired it, when it wasn't causing people problems. She knew she could be too much of a good girl, and she didn't know how to fix it.
That, and her pulse quickens even as she thinks. Someone wanting to follow orders -- at least some of them -- stirred something she had no name for. And she wanted to see where it went. ]
Hmm...what if I had you help us pick matching outfits, and then I can go show you off at House Finch? I've never gotten to take anyone dancing.
Is that so? If I ever have the privilege of meeting her, she'll have one with her name on it. That pup is a surprisingly good listener when you have no one else to speak to after a frightful dream or a long day.
[ Does he have a stuffed one riding shotgun in his beat up truck back in Midgar? You betcha.
Roche shakes his head with a fond smile after a few moments and takes the time to finish off the remnants of his drink, then unceremoniously pops the lid off to work on getting the rest of the whipped cream and caramel out from the bottom with his straw. ]
Finch is the more popular club around here, yes? I don't think I've had the pleasure of setting foot in that particular one just yet. Do you know what it's like?
[ Because if it involves dancing, well, he'd rather make sure he's got the right idea lest it be something a little more classy like a "proper" dance floor. ]
